General FAQ

  • What’s Expert Republic? 

Expert Republic is a platform which helps professionals connect with their customers through a one-to-one video call and manage payments at the same time! It could be your gardener, business mentor, fitness consultant or your beauty guru, they can provide their service to you through a real-time video call. Pretty interesting, huh? 

  • What does Expert Republic offer? 

Expert Republic offers professional services from diverse industries currently, we have Gardening Services, Teaching Online, Medical Consultations, Counselling Services, Beauty Services, Fitness Training and Personal Coaching.

  • How do I search for an expert?

In the Expert Republic app, there is a search tab for customers to search for the service you need help in. 

Account

  • How do I create a Expert Republic Account?

Creating a Expert Republic account requires only a valid email address. You’ll also need to create a password and agree to terms and conditions and our privacy policy.

All you have to do is to fill in your name, email address, mobile number. Once you complete this part of the signup process, we’ll send an email to confirm your account registration. Once you confirm, you’ll be able to use Expert Republic to explore Experts in no time!

  • Downloading the Expert Republic App 

The Expert Republic app is available in Google Playstore, and it is a single app which allows customers and Experts to switch accounts to book experts or provide a service.  We’ve provided the links to the Android Expert Republic app below. Be sure to click the link directly from your mobile device.

  • Delete my Expert Republic Account

Let us know and we can delete your account. Contact us and we’ll get back to you soon.

  • How do I update SMS or push notifications settings?

On the side menu, tap on Settings > Notifications. Here you will be able to manage SMS and notification settings.

Booking a Service

  • How do I book an Expert? 

In the app, you can search for a category and select an Expert to book. When taped on the “Book Now” button, it means that you have booked an appointment with the Expert.

  • Can I book an Expert at any time? 

If the Expert is online, you can book the expert. Once booked, you will know which number in line you are. When your turn comes the Expert will call you.

Managing a Service

  • Should I let the Expert know additional information about the required service before booking them? 

Yes, if needed you can add a message to the Expert when confirming a booking. 

  • The call didn’t end properly, what should I do? 

If something happened with your internet connection or something happened with the Expert’s internet connection, the Expert will video call back. If an issue happens with a call please contact our customer support team and they’ll get the problem sorted out as soon as possible.

  • I was charged incorrect, what should I do? 

Uh-oh! We’re extremely sorry about the confusion. Contact our customer support team and they’ll get this problem sorted out as soon as possible

Payment Information

  • What are the available payment options?

We accept all debit and credit card payments. 

  • How do I pay for a booked Service? 

Since we’re a cashless platform, you will be paying for the service by the Expert online, ideally a card payment. 

To pay for a service: 

When confirming booking details, if a card is already saved, you can pay using that card or you can add a new payment method. The payment method can also be changed when confirming booking details. 

  • What is a payment violation? 

Payment violation includes :

  1. Issuing payment outside the platform for any service obtained from an Expert. 
  2. Negotiating the payment rates and consultation duration set by the Expert on their profile.
  3. Any other action that causes trouble to the established payments system at Expert Republic.
  • How are payments handled on Expert Republic?

No hands will be exchanging cash, as we’re a cashless platform. You will be paying for the service by the Expert online, ideally a card payment. 

Our payments happen through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. The entire payment process is handled securely through Stripe using the credit or debit card you entered when booking. Stripe accepts all major credit and debit cards.

Trust and Safety

  • How do I leave a rating and review? 

At Expert Republic, ratings are bits of advice given to an Expert to help in improving and doing better in delivering the service. 

After a service consultation is over and has been paid for, you can leave a rating and review of the Expert in the app.

When leaving a review, you can rate your experience with the Expert on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. 1-2 stars will display as a “negative” rating, 3 stars will be displayed as a “neutral” rating and above 3 stars as a “positive” rating. At the bottom of the screen, you can also skip the rating screen.

 After finishing off rating the Expert, you can leave a public written review for your Expert or if you gave a low rating, you can report the issue and our support team will look into it as soon as possible. 

When rating/reviewing a Expert, these are the guidelines: 

  1. Be honest, think about the facts, and focus on how good the video consultation went and not your happiness or lack thereof with the platform (any comments about the platform itself should be sent to the Expert Republic customer support team. 
  2. Do not post inappropriate content (including personal insults, slurs, threats, harassment, hate speech ), or post anything else that is in violation of our Terms of Service.
  3. Do not forfeit a payment / accept a reduced payment in exchange for a positive review.
  • Does the Expert see my details? 

There’s nothing to worry about!  Experts in Expert Republic won’t be able to view your phone number or email address. There’s no need to exchange personal contact info, customers and the Expert will be connected through a real-time video call for the consultation. To keep your information secure, we recommend you don’t exchange personal contact details with any Expert.
